What is Pasteurization?

For over 100 years, the pasteurization process has kept fresh, consumable foods and liquids safe and free from harmful bacteria. With the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza into our commercial dairy cattle, consumers are wondering if the dairy supply is still safe. Former Deputy Director of Food and Dairy for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), Terry Philibeck, and Sudeep Jain, the Quality Control Director for the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA), explain the science and regulations that are keeping the dairy supply safe.
